Hampshire's 2026/27 dates for Fareham schools: October half term 26 to 30 Oct, Christmas 21 Dec to 1 Jan, plus the INSET days three local schools set.
Schools in Fareham that follow Hampshire County Council’s calendar break up for October half term on Friday 23 October 2026 and go back on Monday 2 November. The Christmas holiday runs from Monday 21 December 2026 to Friday 1 January 2027, and the spring term starts on Monday 4 January.
Those are the county’s dates for community and voluntary controlled schools. Academies, foundation schools and independents can set their own, and each school adds up to five closure days for staff training on top. The table below has the county year in full; after it are the local schools whose published calendars we checked.

Good Friday is 26 March 2027 and Easter Monday is 29 March, both inside the Easter holiday. The May half term week includes the spring bank holiday on 31 May (GOV.UK).
Local schools with their own dates
We checked the published 2026/27 calendars of three local schools. Two follow the county’s holidays and differ only in their training days; the independent school breaks for longer.

Three details catch families out:
- Fareham Academy pupils go back on Tuesday 5 January, not Monday 4 January, because the Monday is a training day.
- Brookfield’s spring term ends a day early for pupils. Thursday 25 March is both the county’s last day of term and one of the school’s INSET days.
- Boundary Oak’s October break is two weeks. Pupils finish on Friday 16 October and must be collected by 5.30pm that day. Its Christmas holiday starts on 11 December, a week before the county’s.
If your school is not listed
Hampshire says its dates apply to community and voluntary controlled schools, and that voluntary aided schools, foundation schools and “some Hampshire Academies” may also use them. It leaves the five professional days to each head teacher and governing body. The school’s own website or newsletter is the only reliable source for those.
